We have been covering the virtual pet industry for over ten years. We started back in 1996 developing an online virtual pet for kids in schools to care for in hopes of helping them develop their skills before they got a real pet. We got caught up in the swirl surrounding keychain virtual pets when they were released in Japan in early 97. We have been here through Tamagotchi, GigaPets, Digimon, Furby, Shelby, Aibo, Dogz, Creatures, i-Cybie, Digimon, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Fin-Fin, Aquazone, Neopets, Webkins and more as virtual pets moved to robots, plush pets, trading cards, CD Roms, board games, mobile phones, virtual worlds and other formats.
We look forward to continuing to cover breaking developments as well as trying to make sense of the movement, anticipate where it may go in the future, and to preserve and appreciate the rich history of virtual pets.
